Call of Duty: Black Ops II developer teases mysterious Origins content with a gigantic robot

Activision is preparing to release the next Call of Duty game, subtitled Ghosts, later this year, but that’s not stopping Treyarch from releasing a bit more content for 2012’s Call of Duty: Black Ops II.

Today, Treyarch released a new trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops II that teases something called “Origins.” What is Origins? It isn’t clear. The video shows some angry male faces intercut with empty locales that look like something out of Black Ops II’s Zombies, which is the first-person shooter’s cooperative horde mode.

Only the Origins trailer doesn’t feature any undead monsters. Instead, the clip ends with a big twist. It has one of the characters running through a trench in the rain only to look up in time to see the foot of a giant, Pacific Rim-style robot squash him.

We’ve reached out to Activision and Treyarch for more information, and we’ll update this post when we know exactly what Origins is.
