The next version of Call of Duty might give players fewer reasons to curse their Internet connections because the game will have dedicated servers on every platform.

Developer Infinity Ward previously confirmed that Call of Duty: Ghosts, the next entry in the long-running first-person military-action series, will have dedicated multiplayer servers on Xbox One. In a post on Twitter, Ghosts executive producer Mark Rubin revealed that it will provide a strong online infrastructure for the Nov. 5 release on all consoles and PC as well.

“We’ve already mentioned dedicated servers as part of the overall plan to improve connectivity,” Rubin wrote on Twitter. “Dedicated servers will be used on current gen, next gen, and PC with Ghosts.”

Dedicated servers is an expensive solution that enables better performance in online multiplayer games. Players can connect to these remote multiplayer matches without any additional strain on their hardware. That’s opposed to player-hosted servers that run multiplayer instances on a players’ machine. That method is cheaper, but it also tends to cause lag and connection problems.

“There is also some great new tech in the matchmaking system that will place players in matches that have the best combined overall connectivity performance,” said Rubin. “Again these are just some of the things that are going into Call of Duty: Ghosts to give players a great online experience. Can’t wait to see you all online.”

Ghosts will launch on Nov. 5 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and PC. It will debut alongside the next-gen PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles on Nov. 15 and Nov. 21, respectively.
