Activision is about to put Call of Duty: Black Ops II down for good after it releases the fourth expansion pack later this month. The company is all about developer Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Ghosts right now as it prepares to launch the military first-person shooter Nov. 5 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and PC.

As part of the publisher’s support for the game, Ghosts is the exclusive first-person shooter for Major League Gaming’s 2014 season. MLG is one of North America’s premiere e-sports organizations, and it played a big part in promoting the popularity of Black Ops II as a legitimate game for pro players.

But you won’t have to wait until the 2014 season to actually see competitive Call of Duty: Ghosts in action. MLG chief executive Sundance DiGiovanni, in an interview with Machinima, confirmed that its next big event will feature Call of Duty: Ghosts.

MLG will feature Call of Duty: Ghosts at its fall championship, which takes place in Columbus, Ohio, on the weekend of Nov. 22. We’ve contacted the e-sports league to ask if it will also still hold a tournament for Black Ops II, but the organization says it is still finalizing details for its fall championship.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is the next game from Modern Warfare 3 developer Infinity Ward. It is a new story, world, and graphics engine, but it will bring back many of the gameplay features and mechanics that makes the franchise so popular.
