China’s Ourgame acquires World Poker Tour for $35 million

You might think of Texas hold ’em as a pretty American pastime, but a Chinese company just acquired one of the biggest companies associated with the card game.

Chinese social gaming and technology company Ourgame has bought World Poker Tour for $35 million. World Poker Tour is best known for its televised, real-world tournaments. Ourgame says that World Poker Tour will keep its offices in Southern California and continue to operate as is.

World Poker Tour was bought by the online poker company PartyGaming in 2009 for $12.3 million. World Poker Tour originally partnered with Ourgame to bring its products to Asian markets in 2014.
