Mario Kart 8 on Wii U is getting a whole lot faster.

Nintendo’s highly rated racer is getting a free update on April 23 that adds a new difficulty level. The 200cc mode will challenge karting experts with its super-fast pace, as seen in the comparison video below.

A lap of the Piranha Plant Pipeway track takes about a minute on 150cc mode — currently Mario Kart 8’s most difficult setting — but only about 40 seconds on the new 200cc mode. It’s a significant speed increase, and it’s available to all Mario Kart 8 players.

Nintendo has historically been slow to embrace downloadable content and game patches — things that other publishers have been using for years — but it’s doing a good job of keeping Mario Kart 8 fresh.

As well as the free update, April 23 also sees the release of the second batch of paid DLC for Mario Kart 8, which adds three Animal Crossing characters, Dry Bones Bowser, eight new tracks, and four new vehicles.
