Obsidian has lost one of its cofounders.

Chris Avellone has left Obsidian Entertainment, a studio where he was creative director. He helped create notable role-playing games like Neverwinter Nights 2 and Wasteland 2. He was also a designer for Knights of the Old Republic 2 and the senior designer for Fallout: New Vegas. He confirmed his departure in a tweet:

He later clarified that while the whole Hogwarts thing was a joke (surprising, we know), he was serious about leaving Obsidian.

Chris Avellone cofounded Obsidian Entertainment in 2003 after the closure of Interplay’s Black Isle Studios, where he had worked on role-playing game classics like Icewind Dale and Planescape: Torment.
