Earlier today, Activision revealed the first details of the next Call of Duty’s multiplayer mode, but publisher Electronic Arts doesn’t want you to forget about Battlefield 4, its major first-person shooter.

Battlefield 4 developer DICE announced today that it’s enabling players to carry over their stats from current-gen versions of the game to the next-gen installments. The game is due out Oct. 29 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. It’ll also release for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 later this year. Gamers planning to upgrade will not have to worry about losing their stats after sinking in some time with the game on their current-gen platforms.

“Whether you are playing on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, we want to make your transition to next-generation consoles easy,” reads an EA blog post. “That is why today we are informing the devoted Battlefield community that all the time and effort you spend building up your Battlefield 4 stats will carry over when you upgrade from the Xbox 360 to Xbox One and from the PlayStation 3 to PlayStation 4.”

No transferring stats from Xbox 360 to PS4 or PS3 to Xbox One, but this is still better than nothing.

Microsoft separately revealed a program called Season Pass Guarantee that will ensure anyone who buys a downloadable-content season pass for a game like Battlefield 4 on Xbox 360 will automatically have access to the season pass on Xbox One.

It seems like publishers and platform owners are sensitive to all of the issues that might keep a gamer from upgrading, and they are taking steps to address those sticking points.
