Dishonored 2 is coming, surprising nobody, but we’ve learned some new details about the upcoming sequel to developer Arkane Studios’ stealth/action title at the company’s press briefing tonight ahead of the big Electronic Entertainment Expo game-industry tradeshow.
Most notably, players will be able to play as Emily Kaldwin, who was rescued in the first game. But she’s all grown up now, and she has time-bending superpowers and a fancy crossbow all her own.
Bethesda published Arkane’s first Dishonored back in 2012. It was a new intellectual property with a unique art style — reminiscent of Britain in the 1800s — in the fictional city of Dunwall. You played as royal bodyguard Corvo Attano, who is unjustly accused of murdering his queen and then proceeds to slice open just about everyone standing between him and justice. Or not, depending on how you played.
We don’t have a release date for Dishonored 2 yet; we just know it’s coming at some point to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. In the meantime, however, Bethesda is releasing a “definitive edition” of the first installment that is also headed to those platforms. It will include the original game and all of its expansion packs with updated graphics and will be available on August 25 for $39.99.
