Disney Infinity was one of the best-selling games last year, and now Mickey Mouse’s gaming division is holding a fan-appreciation event with the developer.
Disney Interactive announced the first Disney Infinity Toy Box Summit today. This event will take place Aug. 15 to Aug. 17 in Salt Lake City, Utah, which is the home of developer Avalanche Software. Disney wants fans from around the world to come and create in-game levels and more throughout a number of competitions. It will pick the best creations and use them in Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes (2.0 Edition) when it launches this fall.
While Disney will handpick some of the community creators who get to participate in the competition, the company will also enable anyone to enter a video contest for the opportunity to join the event. Fans will have to use Disney Infinity’s Toy Box to celebrate their favorite movie, and the top three entries will get an all-expenses-paid trip out to Salt Lake for the summit.
To facilitate the creation process, Avalanche will have its community associates on hand to mentor and help fans that are just getting started.
In addition to the creation competitions, the Toy Box Summit will also host panels and roundtables with Avalanche about the game. The studio will give a hands-on tour of the upcoming sequel, and it will guide fans through a tour of its headquarters. Disney Infinity executives will also give keynote speeches.
If you don’t get invited out to Salt Lake, Disney doesn’t want you to feel left out. It plans to stream many of the activities live to the web.
