Grab the Apple device of your choice and get ready to do some spelunking! The Cave, a puzzle adventure game from Maniac Mansion and Monkey Island creator Rob Gilbert, is now available on the App Store for $4.99.

In The Cave, players choose three unlikely adventurers, each with their own personally macabre stories, and descend into the mysterious depths of the eponymous grotto in search of their heart’s desire. Along the way, they’ll find a subterranean amusement park, a medieval castle, a monastery, a souvenir shop, and even a fully armed, nuclear-tipped ICBM.

Developer Double Fine Productions added new touchscreen controls to the iOS version of the game, and Gilbert says the team worked hard to ensure they are responsive and intuitive. “We were also able to retain the graphical fidelity of the console version so players can now get the full subterranean adventure experience in a portable format,” he says in a press release.
