Dragon Ball Z and Kinect support is a match made in heaven for children. Kids all over the world who fall in love with the Dragon Ball anime series likely share one guilty secret: pretending to fight like the characters on the show.

Dragon Ball Z Kinect brings all the non-stop brawling from the television show into your living room.

The game is entirely in first person, giving the illusion that, rather than playing an avatar, you’re fighting head-to-head with over 50 playable characters from Dragon Ball Z history. Each character has a unique set of moves that requires the player to perform different actions. If you want to use a long-range or power attack, you’re going to assume the classing squat-to-power-up position before progressing.

Combat is certainly true to the Dragon Ball experience, to the point that it’s incredibly exhausting. Enemies have an outrageous number of hit points, and by the end of a fight you’re going to feel just as exhausted and beaten down as any DBZ character. Fights on the show don’t end with opponents simply walking away. Both are worn down to their core, and it feels like the Kinect experience is really staying true to that.

But, if you need to power down children with an abundance of energy, smacking around some virtual baddies isn’t a bad way to go about it.

Dragon Ball Z Kinect also supports collectible QR cards that unlock different characters and items in the game. Namco has not revealed how they plan to market the QR codes, but the smart money’s on them releasing packs of them like trading cards.

Dragon Ball Z Kinect will come out in the U.S. and Europe this October.
