Nintendo DSi, DSi XL receiving price cuts this month

Nintendo DSi, DSi XL receiving price cuts this month

Nintendo is slashing prices on its older portable systems.

Nintendo DSi XL

If you’ve been shopping around for a portable Nintendo system but aren’t sure if you want to deal with that third dimension just yet, you’ll want to wait just a little longer before you proceed to the checkout. Effective May 20, the suggested retail price for the DSi will drop from $149.99 to $99.99, and the plus-sized XL will go from $169.99 to $129.99.

“The new suggested retail prices provide an even greater incentive to pick up the systems, and provide an easy option for parents who want to introduce younger kids to their first portable games,” Nintendo said in its press release.

The drop on the XL is especially significant, since it has cost the same as the newer 3DS since Nintendo dropped the price on that system last year. The console maker pledged to decrease its manufacturing overhead on its portable systems during its financial briefing last month.
