Publisher 505 Games released Terraria for iOS today. It’s available now as a universal app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch for $5.

Terraria is a sandbox adventure game that has players exploring a 2D, side-scrolling fantasy world. They can dig up earth and craft new weapons and tools to aid in their quests. It features over 12 environments and 75 different enemies and bosses. Developer Codeglue, which handled the mobile port, added Game Center support for leaderboards and achievements.

The developer completely redesigned the controls to work with the touchscreen. It also balanced the difficulty for the new control method.

Terraria began its life as a PC game. Developer Re-Logic released it in 2011 for Windows. Publisher 505 Games purchased the distribution rights for the title and has since released it for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. It previously promised a PlayStation Vita version, but 505 hasn’t released it yet.

An Android version is still in the works.
