Another year, another FIFA title from EA Sports. Once again EA is right on cue with the late September release of FIFA 16 on all major gaming platforms. If you’re looking to get in the action on Day One, several retailers are offering incentives to buy ahead of time through them.
It’s not much of a secret the best deal in the bunch is a 23% discount on the PC Download version. This week GMG has a 23% off coupon code which cuts the price from $59.99 to only $46.20. As the game’s a totally digital product with no physical delivery, someone was bound to undercut the competition eventually.
The console version discounts are mainly focused on bonus offers. The best cash bonuses are the Microsoft Store and Best Buy giving you an extra $10 to spend in the future in the form of a digital credit. In the case of Microsoft, they’re sending you a $10 gift code redeemable on Xbox LIVE, while Best Buy will give you $10 worth of “My Best Buy Rewards” points. The only outright discount is at Amazon, where pre-ordering gets you a $5 price break if you are an Amazon Prime member.

If you need a new Xbox One to go along with your copy of FIFA 16, the Microsoft Store is throwing in a free copy of Assassin’s Creed Unity (~$40 value) while Amazon is tossing in a $50 credit. The console itself officially released on September 15th and gets you a free copy of FIFA 16 – though you can’t start playing until September 22nd.
Also included in the bundle is a year’s EA Access Membership. As an EA Access member, you can try select EA games before they are released and get a 10% discount on all EA products on Xbox. Normally it’s a $4.99 a month membership, but here you can try 12 months for free – a nice little bonus valued at $30.
Pre-order The Standard or The Deluxe Edition?
In addition to any of the above bonuses retailers are offering, pre-ordering the game itself will get you 15 FUT Gold Packs over 15 weeks (a $15 value). The pre-order bonus on the Deluxe Edition is 40 FUT Premium Gold Packs over 20 weeks ($50 value).
You might be wondering whether you should you pre-order FIFA 16 at all. Well, that all depends on whether you’re a fan of the series. If you’re skeptical, it would probably be better to wait for reviews. That being said, if you’re going to buy on Day 1 anyway at full price, it makes sense to pre-order now and lock in either savings or bonuses.
