Fingerprint acquires kids’ mobile game companies Scribble Press and Cognitive Kid

Two Serious Games companies join the Fingerprint fold.

Fingerprint, a fast-growing kids mobile edutainment company based in San Francisco, grows even larger today with the acquisition of two education companies, Cognitive Kid and Scribble Press. The company’s platform, which provides games and e-books for children, sees a large influx of content with these acquisitions, with their library now weighing in at 800 pieces, a tenfold increase over last year’s count. Content of this type on mobile continues to fuel the learning games market, one which Ambient Insight says is expected to grow to $8.9 billion by 2017.

Fingerprint’s curated network serves as a sort of app store for childrens’ games and books. Its materials come form partnerships with more than 400 content creators worldwide. Bringing in two notable partners will help Fingerprint further expand its growing mobile kids entertainment platform.

Launched in 2001, Scribble Press is a children’s digital book creation application that authors and developers have used to build more than 3 million digital books to date worldwide. It supplies text and art tools that let kids create and publish their own e-books online. Fingerprint has worked with Scribble Press for two years, and together they’ll launch the next generation of the product.

The addition of Cognitive Kid to Fingerprint’s group brings the popular Ansel and Clair line of learning game apps to their library. The award-winning series by CEO and founder Suma Raju has been published by Fingerprint in the past, and development of the brand will continue following this acquisition.

Earlier this month, Fingerprint announced the relaunch of the Backyard Sports franchise on mobile.
