Four more DLC Super Smash Bros. characters we should get

I mean, I'd love to see that fight.

The possibilities are now endless.

Yesterday, Nintendo revealed that Mewtwo will become Super Smash Bros.’s first downloadable content character. This is the first time in the series’ history that the Japanese developer and publisher has added a fighter to the roster of a Smash Bros. game after it came out. And it’s unlikely that Nintendo is going to stop with just one, so let’s start dreaming about all of those other new characters we might see added to the 3DS and Wii U versions of the cross-over fighting game series.

Below are a few characters we hope to see Nintendo add.

Cranky Kong

Before we knew the complete roster for the new Smash Bros., I did a little guessing. OK, not many of my picks made it into the final game (I got Pac-Mean right, though), but DLC means that Nintendo can eventually make my guess-work seem a whole lot smarter.

Out of all of the fighters in that list that didn’t make it in, I think that Cranky Kong would make the most interesting addition. He could bounce around the battlefield on his cane, and I can just imagine him taunting opponents by taking a breather on his rocking chair. Besides, the Donkey Kong franchise didn’t get a new fighter for the 3DS and Wii U versions.

 Bayonetta

Ideally, the synergy on this would have worked better if Nintendo could add her now (since Bayonetta 2 comes out exclusively for the Wii U today), but the sexy, dark-haired heroine would make an interesting addition to Smash Bros. Sure, some of the roster’s fighters have a little sex appeal (Zero-Suit Samus, especially), but Bayonetta is suggestive sexuality personified.

Of course, that’s a decent reason why we don’t see her in the relatively kid-friendly games. Still, if we’re adding Shulk from the relatively niche Wii exclusive Xenoblade Chronicles, it seems only fair that Bayonetta get a roster spot. Besides, Bayonetta also has a unique fighting style that would set her apart from a crew of combatants that depend on swords, fists, and lasers. I mean, she fights with her hair! She also uses guns, which are now completely out of Smash Bros. with Snake gone from the roster.

Speaking of … .

 Snake

Metal Gear’s grave hero was a fun addition to Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii, but he didn’t return for the new games. Maybe we could rectify that mistake with some DLC. I mean, Mewtwo came back after missing out on Brawl. And after him (and the Ice Climbers, which the developer claims can’t work on the 3DS’ limited hardware), Snake is certainly the most missed character.

Of course, Nintendo doesn’t own the rights to Snake, but surely they can work something out with Metal Gear publisher Konami.

 Waluigi

Waluigi is so stupid, he’s awesome. He only exists because Wario needed a doubles partner in a tennis game for the Nintendo 64. A lot of fans were hoping that Nintendo would add him to the new Smash Bros.’s roster, but alas! It was not to be. Well, it’s time to make it happen.

No more assist trophies, Mii outfits, or alternative costume colors for Luig! Make Waluigi his own playable character, and let us rejoice with a chorus of “WAAAAAAAAA”!
