When you think of design in gaming, you might think of the look of characters or the overall style of a world. But developers often put more thought into designing levels than just about anything else. And it’s something that is hard to appreciate when those stages are surrounding you in 3D.
To help give you a different perspective, the Tumblr account Gridpaper Maps regularly posts top-down views of places and levels from some of gaming’s biggest releases. That includes mulitplayer stages from various Call of Duty games as well as towns from single-player adventures like Skyrim.
