GaymerX, the convention that focused on gay gamer and geek culture, is getting its first sequel. GaymerX2 will take place July 11-July 13 in downtown San Francisco.

The first GaymerX took place last August. It featured many panels on LGBT-related issues in gaming. While that convention was held in Hotel Kabuki and Hotel Tomo, GaymerX2 will take place in the larger InterContinental Hotel. The new venue will offer triple the space compared to last year.

“For games to be taken seriously as the pieces of art that they are, they can’t live in a culture that is afraid to tackle and discuss issues like gender, sexuality, race, and identity,” said Matt Conn, the cofounder of GaymerX, in a press release. “The amount of support that we’ve gotten for GaymerX shows that the gaming community is coming around to the idea of having serious debates on how to improve the medium.”

Guests will include BioWare’s David Gaider, writer and designer Mattie Brice, and musical acts 2 Mello and Virt.
