Devil May Cry existed, you know.

Why is it that lately any time a stylish action game is shown, people say it’s "like God of War" or "God of War lite"? Are people not aware that God of War was largely influenced by Devil May Cry, which was likely the first modern stylish action game? Even Ninja Gaiden was influenced by it greatly. 

 Hell, 4 didn’t even come out that long ago, even if it wasn’t that great. Boy I sure do like the second half of a game just being backtracking yessirreebob.

 This has a similar problem with people explaining over the shoulder viewpoints as "Gears of War-esque". Resident Evil 4, broski. Hell, if you’re gonna go with the next one to do it, it’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter. Gears was pretty late to the party.  Over the shoulder is also completely terrible and only worked in RE4. 

 I’m aware these comparisons are usually made in regards to what people would most readily recognize, but it angers me that people don’t KNOW THEIR ROOTS SON.
