Rockstar games today announced that it’s scheduled Grand Theft Auto V for worldwide release this spring. Preorders begin on Nov. 5. News of the spring release leaked yesterday, but this confirms it.

Rockstar North is developing Grand Theft Auto V, and this is important because it’s the studio that created the series. It claims that GTA V will be the biggest and most ambitious GTA game to date.

Rockstar Games founder Sam Houser said via press release, “Grand Theft Auto V builds on everything we’ve learned about open-world game design. We can’t wait to share it with fans.”

This announcement comes shortly after news that Hurricane Sandy forced publisher Take-Two Interactive to postpone their quarterly earnings report. Perhaps this will appease some of the guys in suits. If anything, gamers will be happy that GTA V finally has a release-date window.

Come spring 2013, Grand Theft Auto V will be available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 (no word on the PC version). The release had no mention of a Wii U version, in case anyone was wondering.
