Halo: The Master Chief Collection’s launch is a bit of a mess.

The multiplayer portion of the franchise collection has a broken matchmaking system. Those searching for online opponents experience extremely long wait times. In a forum post on Halo Waypoint, The Master Chief Collection’s executive producer Dan Ayoub has stated that it is sending out server updates this morning and another over the weekend that should address the issue. He also apologized on behalf of developer 343 Industries for the rocky launch.

“Since the launch of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, we’ve received several, well deserved complaints related to slow matchmaking and other issues,” Ayoub stated in the forum post. “From everyone at 343 Industries, we are truly sorry and feel your frustration. You deserve better, and we are working day and night to find solutions as quickly as possible, with our first priority focused on matchmaking improvements.”

The updates are server-side fixes, so players won’t have to download any patches.

The Master Chief Collection contains the multiplayer modes for all four of the main series Halo games. A broken matchmaking system hurts one of the package’s largest selling points.
