Harry Potter for Kinect

Warner Bros. Interactive announced today Harry Potter for Kinect, a celebrity-studded exclusive for the Xbox 360 that leverages the motion control peripheral’s camera and gesture features to send you into the vaulted halls of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Developed by Eurocom, the UK-based studio behind Dead Space: Extraction and the upcoming 007 Legends, Harry Potter for Kinect covers all eight films and various activities within author J.K. Rowling’s mega-creation.

Players personalize their witch or wizard by scanning their own face into the game. As if that wasn’t magical enough, spell-slinging entails flicking an on-screen wand while calling out the spell’s name as you battle beside Harry, Ron, Hermione, and the rest of the Hogwarts gang. And no, balling your hands into fists and yelling “Fus Ro Dah” won’t work with this brand of magic.

“Harry Potter for Kinect will engage Harry Potter fans old and new by bringing them into the wizarding world as truly active participants,” said Warner Bros. Interactive senior vice president of production and development Samantha Ryan. “Kids and parents will enjoy recreating their favorite Harry Potter adventures from flying a broomstick in a Quidditch match to battling pixies and dueling other wizards.”

Harry Potter for Kinect releases this fall for the Xbox 360.
