Yup, it’s Star Wars day! And while many will celebrate by watching the films, we suggest that you do a little gaming — specifically, the kind you can do anywhere. That’s why we listed the Star Wars games that you can easily play on your smartphone today.

Star Wars: Galactic Defense

Galactic Defense is a tower-defense game, which means you build turrets and other structures in order to help keep an invading army from destroying you. You can choose to play as either the light or dark sides, which determines what kinds of buildings you can create. You can also command famous Star Wars characters like Darth Vader.

Star Wars: Commander

Platforms: iOS, Android, and Windows phone

Commander is kind of like Galactic Defense. You choose to play as either the good guys or villains, and you have to build plenty of turrets. However, Commander is more about building your own base and maintaining army that you can use to attack others. It’s a mobile strategy game, but its free-to-play mechanics can restrict how much you do unless you’re willing to spend a little.

Star Wars Pinball

Platforms: iOS, Android, Amazon Kindle

This is pretty much what you’re expecting. It’s pinball with Star Wars-themed virtual tables. The tables are, however, well done. They’re based on everything from specific movies like The Empire Strikes Back to specific characters like Han Solo. You’ll even find a table for the current cartoon show, Star Wars Rebels.

Knights of the Old Republic

Above: The original trilogy of Star Wars movies featured a total of zero female jedi, but KOTOR’s Bastila alone could take down Palpatine’s Empire. Well, maybe not, but she still looks awesome on the game’s cover.

Knights of the Old Republic was a role-playing game released for the original Xbox back in 2003. Many consider it one of the greatest Star Wars games ever because of its memorable cast of characters and surprising story. These days, you can play it for just $3 on a mobile device, so you really don’t have an excuse if you’ve never tried it.

Angry Birds: Star Wars, Angry Birds: Star Wars II

Both games are similar to the original Angry Birds, especially the gravity-based Space spinoff. You have to shoot your characters off a slingshot and destroy all of the evil pigs hiding in their forts. However, the Star Wars versions loosely retell the stories of the films, and each character has a special power. Luke can swing his lightsaber around him. The original Angry Birds: Star Wars focuses on the original trilogy, while Angry Birds: Star Wars II deals with the prequels.

Star Wars Rebels: Recon Missions

Above: That looks less like recon and more like an action scene.

Recon Missions is based on the Star Wars Rebels cartoon, which takes place between Episodes III and IV. It’s an action-platformer/2D sidescroller that has you playing as the character Ezra Bridger from the show. It comes with four free levels, but you can — of course — pay for more.
