Heroes of the Storm fans have plenty to watch Saturday and Sunday.
This weekend — February 27 and 28 in Los Angles — the best Heroes of the Storm teams in North America will compete for a chance to enter the game’s Spring Global Championship, which takes place in South Korea from April 1 to April 3. Those in the North America qualifiers will fight for a $100,000 prize pool, and two teams will advance to the championships, which will have a $500,000 prize pool. The esports market will hit $463 million this year and $1.1 billion by 2019, according to Newzoo.
Heroes of the Storm is a multiplayer online battle arena game, similar to the mega-hit League of Legends, which has around 70 million active players a month. Blizzard doesn’t release similar numbers for Heroes of the Storm, but it’s unlikely to be near League of Legends in popularity.
You can watch North America regional tournament on Twitch.
Competing teams include Cloud9, who won the Heroes of the Storm championship at BlizzCon 2015.
