Heyzap launches mobile API to add high-level analytics

Heyzap is launching a new applications programming interface (API) for its development tools for its social mobile gaming network that will deliver a lot more data on game usage.

The new Heyzap API will give developers access to data gathered from Heyzap’s Android and iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) applications, which tell users what mobile games their friends are playing.

The games API tells developers which games are trending or are popular based on usage, rather than installations. It gives developers access to data on specific users such as check-in history, profile details and badges they have earned. Developers can also see the size of a user’s follower network.

The company unveiled the API at the Game Developers Conference today. It includes a game check-in map (pictured) that displays Heyzap check-ins in real-time with accurate location game data.

Heyzap’s mobile app has been downloaded millions of times. Hezap has more than 800 partners among mobile game developers. The company has raised $3.65 million from Union Square Ventures, Chris Dixon and Naval Ravikant. The company was formed in 2008 by Jude Gomila and Immad Akhund.
