Activision is finally preparing to unleash a new Call of Duty multiplayer beta upon the world as the company aims to get you amped up once again for the military shooter franchise.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III’s multiplayer beta starts August 19 on PlayStation 4. The Xbox One and PC, meanwhile, get it starting August 26, and the online test runs through the end of the month. We also finally know how you can get into the beta, and — surprise — it’s all about getting those preorder numbers up.
Activision and developer Treyarch have released a trailer that is spilling the first details about Black Ops III beta, and one of the most important new tidbits is that anyone who preorders the game gets access to the beta on PS4, Xbox One, or PC.
So if you want to play Black Ops III early, you’re gonna need to make that down payment.
Here’s the trailer:
Here are some other important things we’ve learned about the beta:
- Players will have the ability to unlock weapons, perks, equipment, and scorestreaks.
- It’ll have at least seven multiplayer modes.
- At least three multiplayer maps.
- Eight multiplayer specialists — although we’re not sure what that means.
- Players can customize and paint their weapons.
It’s looking very interesting, and the previous Black Ops games are still very popular among the Call of Duty community. So this test should tell us a lot about how players will receive the next entry in the long-running series.
