Infinity Ward is “putting a little Snoop-ism” in Call of Duty: Ghosts with Snoop Dogg’s voice

Infinity Ward loves potheads.

The developer’s Call of Duty series often gives nods to the stoners in its massive fan base, such as banners to customize online profiles which read “Blunt Force” and “Joint Operations.” Adding voiceovers by Rastafari rapper Snoop Dogg to Call of Duty: Ghosts is another wink in that direction. They’re also pretty damn funny. Snoop’s voice pack will be coming to Xbox Live on April 22, along with other premium customizations. For $3, the hip-hop artist will narrate your multiplayer matches in the military first-person shooter, keeping you informed of happenings like killstreaks and enemy activity with style.

Players can look forward to one-liners such as, “Ballistic vest ready … those are some fine-ass threads,” and “Don’t stop … cap ’em and shank ’em!”

Snoop Dogg (also known as Snoop Lion, his most recent moniker) said in a video preview, “What interested me the most about the project is that my voice could be connected with a game that’s so hip and so hood … it’s associated with greatness.”

“I think the writers did a great job of creating lines specifically for me … and they allow me to do my thing and put a little Snoop-ism on top of it,” he added, “It’s the coolest game in the hood; all my homies play this game.”

Infinity Ward is releasing another voice pack at the same time — this one featuring the infamous drill sergeant from the movie Full Metal Jacket, voiced by R. Lee Ermey. If you are inspired by vicious verbal abuse, this is for you.

Also hitting Xbox Live will be the Soap Legend Pack ($4) and Classic Ghost Pack ($2), which will each enable you to play as a main character from the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare subseries, and six other personalization sets ($2 each). These all include a unique camouflage and reticle for weapons, as well as a special “playercard” and background to customize your profile. Finally, there’s a squad pack ($4) for the game’s cooperative Extinction mode which consists of interchangable heads and uniforms for customizing your squad of soldiers.
