Following Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix, publisher Square Enix plans to unleash an updated version of Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix exclusively for PlayStation 3 in 2014.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix will include that extended version of Kingdom Hearts 2 as well as an HD version of PlayStation Portable release Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Final Mix. This will mark the North American debut for both of these titles in their Final Mix forms.

“I’m so excited to be able to see all of these games included as a part of this compilation, but personally, the most exciting title may be Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix,” Square Enix associate product manager Mat Kishimoto wrote in a post on the PlayStation blog. “As many may not have been able to experience its awesomeness. It’s truly one of the more phenomenal games, and now completely rebuilt in HD — you’ll be able to play it on your big-screen TV for the first time.”

In addition to the two playable titles, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix will also include high-definition remastered cinematics from Kingdom Hearts: Re:Coded, which debuted on Nintendo DS in 2010 in Japan.

This package will not include the latest original entry in the Kingdom Hearts franchise, 2012’s Dream Drop Distance for 3DS.

Square Enix is currently working on Kingdom Hearts III, which it announced during the PlayStation conference prior to the Electronic Entertainment Expo in early June. That new title will appear on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
