Earlier this year, East Coast developer 38 Studios fell into a messy bankruptcy.
Now, appraisal and auction firm SJ Corio Company is planning to sell off the Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning developer’s property at two auctions scheduled for October 16 and October 23.
Part of the equipment set to go to the highest bidder includes some powerful workstation computers, some Moven Studio motion-capture suits, and a hand-recognition security system.
Also listed on the info page for the auction are multiple Xbox 360 development kits. According to Polygon, Microsoft is challenging the sale of those units.
Microsoft released this statement:
Xbox 360 Development Kits (XDK) are the property of Microsoft and are only licensed to authorised studios and may not be assigned or sold to any third party without the written consent of Microsoft. We will be contacting the appropriate parties involved in the auction of 38 Studios’ assets to remove the XDK units from the auction listing and to secure the return of the consoles to Microsoft.
For more information about the auction, check out SJ Corio’s website. The auction company set the October 16 event for 10:30 a.m. in Timonium, MD and the October 23 date for 10:30 a.m. in Providence, RI.
