PlayStation Mobile runs homebrew Left 4 Dead app on Vita

A PlayStation Vita gamer creates a custom, remote-connection app showing the PC version of Left 4 Dead on the PlayStation Vita. Developers, take note.

Left 4 Dead

In an awesome demonstration of gamer creativity, a PlayStation Vita user utilizes the PlayStation Mobile tool suite in a custom app powering the PC version of Left 4 Dead.

The below video by “digitalarts001” showcases Valve’s zombie-filled first-person shooter on the handheld, complete with motion controls for the camera.

The feat evidently utilizes the PlayStation Mobile to remotely connect to a desktop computer over a local network and access its games.

Currently in open beta, PlayStation Mobile offers a software framework for developers releasing PlayStation content on supported, PlayStation Certified devices. Only Android platforms and the Vita carry this certification so far, but if a single user can pull off these impressive results, full-fledged developers shouldn’t shy away from considering similar cross-platform experiences in their products.
