LOS ANGELES — Sackboy is bringing some new buddies with him to the PlayStation 4.
Sony announced LittleBigPlanet for the PlayStation 4 at its Electronic Entertainment Expo press conference today. During a live demo, developer Media Molecule showed off a few new characters, including Oddsock and Toggle. The former can wall-jump and the latter can push heavier blocks and shrink to fit in small gaps. We also met Swoop, a bird-like creature who can fly.

The players can even use their unique abilities to help each other. For example, Sackboy can hold on to Swoop as he flies. The levels look as colorful as they as they always have, although the lighting effects look more vibrant, with streams of light and long shadows littering the stage. The demo and trailer received an extended ovation from the crowd.
User-created levels from LittleBigPlanet 1 and LBP 2 will still work in LittleBigPlanet 3, which Sony says is coming this Christmas season.
