Microsoft said it will release Forza Motorsport 5 “car packs” on a monthly basis for the Xbox One version of the popular racing video game series.

Forza Motorsport 5 is debuting as a launch title for the Xbox One, which Microsoft will begin selling on Nov. 22. The add-on car packs are a way for Microsoft to make a bunch of money from hardcore fans of racing games. The first car pack to be released will be the LeFerrari Car Pack.

Players can buy all six of the car packs by buying a Forza Motorsport 5 Car Pass for $50, or 18 percent less compared to purchasing individually at $10 each. Each Car Pack will include 10 individual cars. New packs will arrive in the first week of every month beginning in January and running through March 2014. Fans of specific makes and models may choose to buy individual cars a la carte.

For the first time, every vehicle in the car packs will be viewable in Forzavista mode, where a player can inspect every inch of the car, inside and out, in high-resolution detail.

The LeFerrari Car Pack includes the new hypercar from Ferrari. A 950-hp hybrid engine powers the car and production will be limited to 499 units on a global basis. Forza fans will have access to that car, in digital form, before anyone else. Nine more cars in the pack will be unveiled soon.
