Minecraft players on console are about to get some gravity-defying freedom.
Microsoft announced details for the holiday update for the console versions of the block-building and survival game. Originally a hit on PC, Minecraft has since come out for multiple platforms, including PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Wii U. A series of updates have slowly brought the console versions closer to feature parity with the original. Minecraft is one of the most popular games in the world — selling over 100 million copies across all of its platforms — and new content ensures that players will stick around.

It will notably add flying to the console versions via the Elytra item, which allows players to glide through the air. OK, maybe — as Toy Story’s Woody would say — that’s more “falling with style” than actual flying, but it’s still cool.
The update also adds new potions, Dragon’s Breath and Lingering Potion, which can inflict status effects for enemies or other players. For the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, players can now choose the Amplified Terrain option when creating a new world. This will make a land with more extreme cliffs and mountains.
Microsoft noted that it will reveal more about the update in the future, which it is calling the biggest one for the console versions of the year. The Elytra item is also supposed to come to the Pocket and Windows 10 Editions of Minecraft via an update that’ll release before the end of the year.
