Mojang sells 10 million copies of Minecraft on mobile devices alone

Mojang’s money factory Minecraft is megapopular. On PC and Xbox 360, the title continues to soak up metric tons of cash from gamers that live and breathe for the block-building game.

Today, the developer revealed that Minecraft: Pocket Edition, which brings the Lego-like world to mobile devices, has sold more than 10 million copies on the iOS and Android markets. To celebrate this milestone, Mojang is revealing some plans for future upgrades to the smartphone game.

“We have been working hard on restructuring the backend of a lot of things for Minecraft: Pocket Edition to make future updates smoother,” Mojang spokesperson Daniel Kaplan said in a statement. “For instance, you can now change options without jumping back to the main menu.”

The developer also plans to add an option in the menu that will turn on some experimental features specifically designed for high-end devices like the HTC One, iPhone 5, and Samsung Galaxy S 4.

Finally, Kaplan revealed that an upcoming update to Pocket Edition will bring buckets to Minecraft. These tools enables players to carry water, lava, and other liquids/plasmas.
