Ubisoft wants you to know about all the work it did to make the world of Tom Clancy’s The Division feel as real and alive as possible.

The publisher released a new trailer today for the Spike TV VGX online awards show that reveals some of the technical tricks the shooter employs to make details pop off the screen. Developer Ubisoft Massive is using things like advanced particle systems and volumetric lighting (complicated ways of saying “wow, so pretty!”) to make every corner of the postapocalyptic world as photo-realistic as possible.

The Division is an online team-based shooter that takes place in an open world. Ubisoft Massive is developing the title for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It debuted at Ubisoft’s press conference prior to the Electronic Entertainment Expo trade show in early June.

It is due out in 2014.
