Nintendo will release Pokémon X and Y for the 3DS handheld in Japan, the Americas, Europe, and Australia in October.

“A significant amount of resources is required for localization,” said Iwata. “Our challenge has always been, how do we deliver Pokémon games to everyone across the world at the same time while ensuring that the quality remains high? With this release, we were able to overcome this challenge. This means you can enjoy your adventure with trainers everywhere this October.”

This is the first Pokémon release for Nintendo’s 3D device and the sixth generation of Pokémon games.
