Nintendo announced tonight that it will hold an online announcement on Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 6 a.m. Pacific time to announce new Wii U and Nintendo 3DS titles for spring 2015.
This is the first Nintendo Direct broadcast with chief executive Satoru Iwata in some time, and it should fill us all in on the timing of some of the company’s big titles, such as the highly anticipated Zelda title coming for the Wii U game console.
Nintendo had a better year for Wii U title launches in 2014 than the year before, but its game system is still a distant third in the console wars. We’ll see if this new announcement can make the Kyoto, Japan-based company more competitive. Nintendo still has a wide lead in handhelds with the 3DS, but that device has to compete with the much more popular smartphones, too.
