Waiting stinks, and Nintendo knows it.
The publisher has just unleashed an update for its 3DS tactical strategy game Code Name: STEAM that enables players to fast-forward through enemy turns. This is also further evidence that Nintendo is extremely tuned into what its fans are saying. This is part of what seems like a publisher-wide policy to take consumer sentiment into account. It has instituted several policies to ask gamers what they want to see in future updates to releases like Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. And it has fixed some of the biggest complaints for its older games when it updates them for re-release. For example, it improved sailing in the HD version of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker for Wii U and a number of features in Majora’s Mask for 3DS.

I just tried it out, and it’s a quick download. This update will enable you to press a button that will speed up enemy turns by 100 percent if you’re on an older 3DS. If you’re using a New 3DS, you can speed up your opposition’s turns by 200 percent.
Nintendo release a video detailing the update. Check it out:
The time it took the computer-controlled players to act in Code Name: STEAM was one of the biggest criticisms that gamers and reviewers lobbed against the Intelligent Systems-developed game. Even when players only took 10 seconds to act, they would regularly then have to wait for around 30 seconds for the CPU to move each enemy character one at a time. It destroyed the pace and added frustration.
By upping the speed — especially on the New 3DS — players should have a much better experience.
Now, if we can just get loud enough about them localizing Mother 3.
