Peter MolyneuxParody Twitter accounts are a popular way for people to satirize their favorite celebrities, superheroes, and political figures, but this may be the first time one has inspired its own indie game jam.

The first ever Molydeux 2012 will be held from March 30 – April 1 in various cities around the globe, including San Francisco, Calif., Brighton, England, and Melbourne, Australia. For 48 hours, independent game developers will split up into teams and work on projects based on the Twitter feed of @PeterMolydeux, the fake account of famed British game designer Peter Molyneux. Game jams are an increasingly popular way to unlock creativity from developers in a relatively short time span.

The soon-to-be former creative director of Lionhead Studios is well known in gaming circles for making lofty promises about his projects and failing to deliver. He is also known for wanting to create an emotional connection between the person behind the controller and the characters on the screen. @PeterMolydeux gently skewers the Black & White and Fable creator by generating wildly fanciful ideas for video games such as:

“3D adventure game where you have amnesia and wake up in a gigantic museum where every room is devoted to a year of your life.”

“FPS War game, you control the teddy bear of a child who has just escaped a death camp. Help them find their mother using your wits.”

“You awake in a 88 floor skyscraper all alone. Every floor is haunted by one of 88 innocent people you killed during an illegal war.”

Actually, that last one doesn’t sound too bad.

One indie developer has already created a game based on one of Molydeux’s tweets called Good Bye, My Love!, which tasks the player with saying farewell to all 120 members of his or her family before an asteroid destroys the planet.

Over 100 programmers, artists, and writers have already signed up to make even more of the fake designer’s imaginative ideas a reality. According to Vox Games, the real Peter Molyneux might make an appearance as well at the event held in Brighton.
