Sony is updating the PlayStation Vita system software to version 2.00 on Nov. 20. That means social-media functionality and PlayStation Plus on its portable device.
The Plus implementation on the Vita brings along portable version of the Instant Game Collection that is so popular on the home console. PS+ members with a Vita will have immediate access to the following titles for as long as they maintain a subscription:
- Uncharted: Golden Abyss
- Gravity Rush
- Wipeout 2048
- Jet Set Radio HD
- Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack!
- Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions
If you’re already a PS+ subscriber on PS3, then you already have a subscription on the Vita. Otherwise, you can start a new three-month membership for $17.99 or a one-year plan for $49.99. Either way, it’s kind of a great deal for Gravity Rush, which is one of GamesBeat’s highest-scoring games of 2012.
Earlier this year, GamesBeat spoke with PlayStation’s director of digital platforms Jack Buser. He explained that the PlayStation Plus program really took off once they began to focus on games.
Other features of the Vita 2.00 software update includes email functionality, enhancements to the web browser, and improved content-management abilities.
