Pokémon Go is bringing people together in the real world like no video game ever before, but another company is stepping in to combine online chatting with these physical meetups.

RazerGo is a new app from Razer that enables location-based chatting using your GPS on iOS and Android. It will launch today on the Apple App Store and Google Play market. The company is positioning this as a companion to Pokémon Go so that players can find others in their town playing the game. Pokémon Go is an app that uses Google Maps data to empower players to catch virtual pocket monsters around their towns. This has led to people swarming parks and other points of interest in search of the digital creatures. But now, with the help of RazerGo, players can plan a meetup with strangers or acquaintances before leaving their homes. Pokémon Go is the top-grossing app in the $36.9 billion mobile-gaming industry, and it has already helped fuel the growth of apps like Fake GPS Location, which is the No. 2 top paid Android app in the U.S. right now.

Razer is planning to get a similar boost for its app, and it could ride Pikachu’s lightning-shaped tail to success by offering up legitimately beneficial features for fans of Pokémon. RazerGo can set up chats for your local area within a 3 mile radius, your region within 60 miles, and a national chat that brings in people from a 600-mile area. Within these chats, you can filter between a public chat or only people who are also on your team. You can also send direct messages to other players individually.

To celebrate the release of this app, Razer is holding a PokéCrawl that will kick off tonight near the RazerStore in San Francisco. Around 6 p.m. Pacific time, trainers can gather to travel multiple routes of Pokémon catching. Razer will place lures, and it is planning to give away items to fans.
