Pokémon Go: How to request or remove a PokéStop or Gym

You don't have to live in a town without PokéStops.

Pokémon Go has changed the way many people interact with their world, but now you can help change the way the location-based augmented-reality game shapes your local town.

Developer Niantic has opened up a support page where players can request that the studio add or remove PokéStops and Gyms to the GPS-powered location-based game. Pokémon Go puts digital creatures in the world around you and enables you to catch them by walking around your physical reality. Additionally, you can get items, attract monsters, and train your critters at important landmarks that the game recognizes as PokéStops and Gyms. The trouble is that some parts of the country don’t have a lot of Stops and others are in dangerous places. That’s why Niantic is now taking requests to help determine the future of the what’s the most lucrative app in the $36.9 billion mobile gaming market.

To request a change to the PokéStops in your neighborhood, go to Niantic’s website and fill out this support form. It asks for the reason for your request, and you can choose one of the following options:

  • Issues with Gym Battles
  • Dangerous PokéStop or Gym
  • No PokéStops or Gyms near me
  • PokéStop or Gym does not exist
  • Report a PokéStop on my personal property

If you’re trying to remove a PokéStop, you’ll need the exact name of the location — such as Walter White’s House from the TV show Breaking Bad.

Niantic is probably not going to get to these requests immediately. Go is an enormous success, and you’ll probably have to get in line behind the people who think that Satan is using Pokémon Go to expose Christian churches.
