Some game ideas go together like peanut butter and jelly. That’s what comes to mind with the combination of Microsoft‘s Kinect motion-sensing system and Hasbro’s Twister board game.
Majesco Entertainment is announcing today that it will publish a game called Twister Mania for Kinect on the Xbox 360 video game console this holiday season. This game seems like a natural for Kinect, just like the Fruit Ninja for Kinect (fruit-slicing) game
Some of these kinds of casual titles may be where Kinect’s sweet spot will be rather than with hardcore games. Kinect doesn’t necessarily have the precision required for some hardcore games, but it is accurate enough to capture whole body movements or arm movements that you perform in games like Twister. While Kinect has sold a lot of units (well beyond 10 million), the system is still searching for a breakout hit that could really lift the overall video game business out of its doldrums.
TwisterMania re-imagines the classic Twister board game from Hasbro where you have to twister your body and put your limbs on different colored spots on the ground as other players contort themselves in the same way. Jesse Sutton, chief executive of Majesco in Edison, N.J., said the game is a perfect match for the play style of Kinect and will be a unique party game.
You can play TwisterMania with up to eight players. The game is due to ship in November.
