A number of people are reporting issues connecting to Sony’s PlayStation Network online service. Problems first arose with many saying they could not sign into PSN to play Destiny on PS4 or PS3. Developer Bungie used its Twitter account to tell fans that it is looking into the issue, but now it looks like the outage is affecting more than just fans of Bungie’s sci-fi shooter. Hundreds of people are running into problems and are asking Sony’s social-media accounts for answers. Sony did announce that it is planning to purposefully bring down some parts of PSN as part of planned maintenance for Thursday. We’ve asked the publisher if today’s problems are related.

“We are aware that some users are experiencing difficulty logging into the PSN,” reads Sony’s site. “We will update this article with any changes that occur in regards to this issue. Thank you for your patience.”

We’ve asked the company for more details, and we’ll update this post with any new information.

The PlayStation Network has had a rocky few weeks. During the busy holiday gaming season, PSN went down for multiple days as the result of a cyberattack. This kept people from playing online multiplayer games like Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare as well as primarily single-player experiences like Dragon Age: Inquisition or Far Cry 4 that require a connection to third-party servers. That outage was made worse by the fact that many people had time off or had just received new hardware and software for Chirstmas and other holidays.
