Rocket League players will soon get a fancy new arena.
Developer Psyonix is bringing a new map to this summer’s surprise hit, Rocket League, in the next few weeks. The Utopia Coliseum map is the first free downloadable content for the driving-and-soccer hybrid, which is proving incredibly popular on both PC and PlayStation 4 (where it’s one of July’s free games for PS Plus subscribers).
Psyonix shared an image of Utopia Coliseum — based on a map from Rocket League’s less successful PlayStation 3 predecessor Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars — on the Rocket League Twitter feed, and it looks exceptionally pretty. It’s the first of many free maps coming to the game as Psyonix looks to build a large and committed Rocket League community. The developer is promising many months, or even years, of additional content for Rocket League.

Unlike the circular Utopia map on which it’s based, Utopia Coliseum will keep the same rectangular format as other Rocket League arenas. But it’ll give players something else to look at as they crash and flip their way to success (or spectacular failure).
Psyonix is also releasing paid-for downloadable content for Rocket League in the near future, the first batch of which will contain new vehicles and decorative gear.
