Gaming publisher GungHo Online Entertainment has announced a new partnership with 17-Bit, the developer best known for the multiplatform turn-based strategy game Skulls of the Shogun. GungHo is a Japan-based studio best known for the mobile hit Puzzle & Dragons.

“17-Bit’s dedication to re-energizing classic genres for next-gen gaming fits perfectly with GungHo’s core values and notably expands the breadth of our game portfolio,” said Jun Iwasaki, chief executive officer of GungHo Online Entertainment America, Inc., in a press release sent to GamesBeat. “We pursued this partnership because we have high expectations for the developer and are eagerly awaiting to collaborate on their next major release.”

17-Bit’s next game is Galak-Z: The Dimensional, a 2D space shooter with retro-inspired gameplay. It’s coming out for PC, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation 4, but it currently doesn’t have a set release date.

Puzzle & Dragons is one of the most popular mobile games in Japan, but it’s also starting to gain traction in western markets.
