Never to be.

We’re getting another look at a gaming “what might have been.”

Rare released a video today via Twitter that talked about and showed off art for a canceled Conker game, which would have focused on multiplayer. Designed for the original Xbox, Conker: Gettin’ Medieval, would have focused on team-based online warfare with a medieval theme. You can see the video below.

2001’s Conker’s Bad Fur Day for the Nintendo 64 was the series’ first game (not counting a 1999 Game Boy Color title that came before the series’ shift to mature humor). It was a part of Rare Replay, a collection of the developer’s games out for Xbox One. Bad Fur Day previously had a remake on the original Xbox after Microsoft bought developer Rare. This updated versions, called Conker: Live & Reloaded, included an online multiplayer mode. Gettin’ Medieval would have expanded that concept into a full game.

Conker hasn’t had a new release since Live & Reloaded, although Microsoft did create levels featuring the foul-mouthed squirrel for Project Spark, its creation-based title for Xbox One and PC.
