Trove is a game set in a fully destructible and constructible block world that’s all about exploration — yes, just like Minecraft. Only developer Trion Worlds is looking to set Trove apart with a twist of action role-playing elements.
Trion, which is best known for massively multiplayer online RPG Rift and online shooter Defiance, is developing Trove for PC. While the game is still early, the studio plans to invite players in to test it while it’s in its alpha stage — again, like Minecraft. Gamers can sign up now to get in on the testing on Trove’s website.

Trove uses procedurally generated dungeons to present players with new content to explore every time they log on. These areas will feature quests and loot, and players can level up their character. Trove also employs a class and abilities system.
Players can also create their own weapons, creatures, and environments within the game or using a tool and importing the content later. Trion may then use the stuff you create in other people’s worlds.
Gaming doesn’t lack Minecraft clones, but Trion is going to see if its free-to-play take on the open-world block-building genre can find an audience.
