Lara Croft’s exclusive window on Xbox One is shutting soon.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is coming to PC in January, according to its listing on the Steam digital store. The action adventure — which made No. 4 on our games-of-the-year list — released as a timed exclusive on Xbox One back in November. Publisher Square Enix hasn’t previously given specifics on this exclusivity period, beyond an early 2016 PC release and a winter 2016 arrival on PlayStation 4.
Steam’s storefront has now revealed that PC gamers will get to experience Rise of the Tomb Raider very soon. The title faced stiff competition from the likes of Fallout 4 when it released back in November, and hitting platforms beyond Xbox One will help boost sales.
Director Brian Horton previously responded to reports of poor sales during a discussion on the Tomb Raider Forums, saying that reviews, and not sales figures, are the gauge of success for the development team.
“I didn’t mean to go off-topic or patronize, but there was suggestion in the thread that the reported sales numbers reflect poorly on the dev team,” said Horton. “Square/Microsoft are happy with Crystal [Dynamics] and Eidos Montreal and the game itself. As to the topic of sales, I’m unqualified to discuss it, so I won’t have anything else to say on this thread.”
“Crystal and Eidos Montreal made a game we are proud of, and we appreciate the overwhelming number of positive reviews and fan feedback,” he added.
