For $10, Sega is increasing the resolution on your nostalgia.
The publisher announced that the HD remakes of platformer Sonic Adventure 2 and side-scrolling flight game Nights into Dreams should hit PlayStation Network on October 2 and Microsoft’s Xbox Live Arcade on October 5. Both Sega classics are $9.99 on Sony’s machine and for 800 points ($10) on the Xbox 360.
Nights fans should be happy to hear that the release includes the Christmas Nights levels for free with the purchase. Sonic Adventure 2, however, works with the expanded GameCube Battle Mode content, but it costs an additional $3, or 240 Microsoft points.
This downloadable content features more maps and characters than appeared in the original Dreamcast release, including the Chao Karate mode, which Sega referred to as “everyone’s favorite.” I’m gonna get the fact checkers on that.
Sega released the original Nights into Dreams in 1996 for the Sega Saturn. It’s the story of a character named Nights who guides a pair of children through a series of dream worlds. To help players better control the flight of the characters, Sega bundled a special gamepad with an analog stick along with the game.
In 2001, Sega unleashed Sonic Adventure 2 on the Dreamcast. Despite a troublesome camera, many critics considered it an improvement over the first Sonic Adventure.
